Pre-Nursery Class (2 years old)
Nursery Class (3 years old)

ASYC's Pre-Nursery and Nursery classes introduce education to 2- and 3-year olds through a safe and fun environment of learning. Little children feel safe with routine, a strategy we use daily. Independent, group and class learning are introduced in phases to ease them into the new environment of school. Motor skills development are important at this age. ASYC introduces dances and group games to develop gross motor skills. For fine motor development, we introduce activities involving drawing, cutting and playing with small but safe objects. Teachers read stories and teach songs and poems to children to encourage expression and communication. Art and craft, and music teach children to be imaginative.

Kindergarten 1 (4 years old)

In K1 class, teachers stress more on academic work and development of social and personal skills. The activities that our children were introduced to in the earlier two years are reinforced to foster accelerated learning. Communication and language skills are reinforced through stories, songs and poetry. More mathematical skills are taught - counting, numerals, and the ideas of more and less. Time and space is introduced and students participate regularly in art, music and physical education. Social development is encouraged through friendships with new students, increasing self-reliance and confidence.

Subjects are now taught in more detail. Mathematics include simple addition and subtraction. Vocabulary skills are enhanced and advanced readers are now introduced to improve language command. History, geography, science and art take on more important roles. In K2, there is wider range of social and physical activities and emphasis on academics to prepare our children for entry into Year 1.
